You asked - we have delievered. Working with our partners at ICBA Benefit Services, EDABC has developed a comprehensive benefits program for members of EDABC. From what we can tell this is the most comprehensive benefits program offered by any Economic Develoment Association in Canada, if not North America. You may also pass this information on to your board members and companies as an option they may wish to consider. We only ask that you make sure they ask that EDABC be credited when signing up and perhaps purchase a membership in EDABC. With our new membership categories it makes it easy to benefit from all we have to offer.
This program is available to EDO's and staff, private consultants, development companies, small businesses and anyone else that may have an interest in supporting the economic growth of our Province. Winning Strategies in Economic Development Marketing
Know your customer. In any industry, that's a basic principle. It was with this aim that Development Counsellors International (DCI) first surveyed corporate executives with site selection responsibilities in 1996. The objective was to understand best practices in marketing places by going directly to the economic development world's primary "customer."
At IEDC's Annual Conference in Charlotte, DCI released "A View from Corporate America: Winning Strategies in Economic Development Marketing," the sixth installment in the series. Sign into the members section of the EDABC website to download the full report.
EDABC/JTI Dinner with the Hon. Pat Bell
EDABC is pleased to announce that we will be hosting our 1st Annual EDABC and Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation Dinner on December 5th at the Westin Bayshore. With the announcement of the BC Jobs Plan and the strong commitment from the Province of BC to support Economic Development in all regions of BC, this event is one you will not want to miss.
The writing, coordinating and selling of the EDABC Invest in BC magazine is now underway. Distributed globally, and with a focus on Canada Starts Here and other important economic development activities in BC, including BC BusinessCounts, this publication will no doubt be one of the best ever published.
EDABC is partnering with Washington State, Idaho, and Oregan in developing a series of monthly Webinars on economic development topics. These webinars will be available to EDABC members for $35.00. In the next week, members from each association will get an email with a survey to identify the important topics that you would like to see covered. The plan is to begin offering the webinars in January 2012.
BC Showcase Available to Host your Clients
The BC Showcase is a unique and innovative facility located in the centre of Downtown Vancouver. The Province of British Columbia will make this space available whenever possible to B.C. communities, industry associations, economic development agencies, Vancouver 2010 Winter Games Partners and sponsors and other approved organizations for the purpose of furthering B.C.'s economic development goals.
Earlier this year, the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation organized a series of 15 business engagement export workshops, held throughout the province. These workshops were developed based on ideas we received from companies the ministry has helped, offered practical advice to local businesses and industry organizations on what it takes to "go global" and provided information on the many services offered by the provincial government.
Such an excellent response to these workshops was received that the ministry is planning to conduct another series across British Columbia in the very near future. In order to make the second go-around a success, the ministry is hoping to work with municipalities and make them happen.
If you want to like to partner with the ministry to hold one of these three-hour, interactive export workshops, or just to get more information, please do not hesitate to call Robert Arthurs at 604-660-3358 or contact him through email: Robert.Arthurs@gov.bc.ca
We also are hoping that you will suggest to your major corporations and other businesses that they consider a partnership with EDABC. By building a strong Economic Development Association we can have more influence over building BC's Economy and supporting BC Families.
We have also created new membership categories allowing you to purchase office memberships, membership for board and council members, and retired members.
BC Business Network
EDABC is a proud partner with the Ministry of Jobs, Tourism and Innovation in promoting businesses to register with the BC Business Network.
In order to help you promote the use of this program, EDABC has developed a brochure that you can use to give out to your businesses.
If you would like hard copies of these brochures that you can distrubute please contact EDABC. They are available on a cost recovery basis.
Every newsletter we will be asking specific questions through a short survey. These questions are being asked for a number of reasons including helping us identify programs, potential partners and more.
EDABC and the Westin Bayshore in Vancouver, BC are pleased to announce that they have renewed the EDABC Membership Rates for 2012. EDABC and its members are playing a significant role in building BC's economy.
The Westin Bayshore is pleased to partner with EDABC in these efforts by offering special rates and welcoming them as important guests," said Westin Bayshore Sales Manager, Anna Clarke.
