Press Release - EDABC and Colliers Partner to Grow BC's Economy
Vancouver, BC,/May, 12, 2010: The Economic Development Association of BC (EDABC) and Colliers International (BC Division) announced today that they have entered into a partnership aimed at growing BC’s economy. In addition to financial support, Colliers will provide EDABC with meeting spaces, participate in marketing initiatives, assist in professional development sessions on real estate development and more.
The initiative is an extension of an existing partnership between EDABC and Colliers that has been in place since 2007.
“The role of economic development officers throughout the province is critical to the growth of BC communities.” said Ron Bagan, Managing Director for Colliers in BC. “They provide essential information on workforce development, real estate, energy and utility resources, regulations and permitting, transportation and infrastructure as well as other essential items of interest businesses need to know in order to grow and thrive. Our team of professionals already work closely with EDABC on marketing opportunities and in meeting the needs of those who wish to invest here. It has proven to be a very beneficial partnership and we look forward to our continued involvement in EDABC activities.”
Kevin Poole, President of EDABC stated, "Our ability to support the growth of BC communities is dependent on the support of our partners. We have valued the role that Colliers has played since signing on as a partner over the past four years and are pleased that they have decided to continue working with us and our members."
Since 1982, the EDABC has been the leading provincial association of economic development practitioners. In addition to this, the EDABC is also the main organization working with BC communities to improve the province’s economy through the retention and expansion of economic opportunities. Through its innovative partnership program the association works with a wide range of companies, industry associations, individuals and others in supporting the growth of BC communities. Several EDABC partners use the associations programs and services to deliver their message to target markets throughout the province.
"BC is one of the most competitive locations in North America for business and these kinds of partnerships help us spread the word and attract investment into the province,” added Dale Wheeldon, EDABC Chief Executive Officer. “Through both EDABC and Linx BC, our community focused investment attraction arm of EDABC, we look forward to working with Colliers to encourage new investment and provide tools our members can use to create strong local economies.”
