Certification

Certified Economic Development Professional of British Columbia

The Certified Economic Development Professional of British Columbia (CEDP.BC) certification prioritizes practical skills and professional experience over rigid educational requirements. This approach reflects the diverse and interdisciplinary nature of the community and economic development field. The National Occupational Classification currently places Economic Development Officers under NOC 41402 – Business development officers, market researchers, and analysts. While this classification does not fully capture the profession, the CEDP.BC certification is an important step toward strengthening recognition of economic development as a distinct professional field.

The certification is designed to encompass a broad range of industry-relevant practices, including community development, business development, traditional economic development, and related professions that align with its framework. Participation in the certification process is voluntary.
