Practical guidance from experienced economic developers across BC.
BCEDA Mentorship Program

Economic development work often brings questions that are easier to work through with someone who has faced similar challenges. The BCEDA Mentorship Program connects practitioners across British Columbia to share experience, build skills and support professional growth.

Mentees set one or two goals and lead the conversations. Mentors offer perspective, practical advice and connections drawn from their experience. The partnership is intended to help each mentee find an approach that works for their career, organization and community.

How it works

Mentors and mentees are encouraged to meet about once a month over a suggested three-to-six-month period. Meetings can take place virtually or in person. The mentee prepares topics for each conversation, coordinates meetings after the first one and follows up on agreed actions.

BCEDA will consider participants’ goals and experience when making matches. Matches depend on the availability of suitable mentors.
