The British Columbia Economic Development Association (BCEDA) invites session proposals for the 2026 BC Economic Summit. This provincial gathering brings together Indigenous and local governments, economic developers, industry leaders, and senior government representatives from across British Columbia to share ideas, challenge thinking, and strengthen economic leadership in communities of all sizes.

Under the theme Shaping Tomorrow: Igniting Ideas, Inspiring Action, Driving Change, the 2026 Summit will focus on bold thinking, practical solutions, and leadership strategies that drive real impact. We are seeking sessions that go beyond discussion and deliver tools, methods, and insights that participants can apply immediately.


Who Should Submit?

We welcome proposals from:

  • Indigenous governments and organizations

  • Local governments and regional districts

  • Economic development organizations

  • Provincial and federal agencies

  • Industry and private sector leaders

  • Post-secondary institutions

  • Nonprofits and community organizations

  • Practitioners and consultants

We are especially interested in sessions that reflect the Summit’s focus on leadership, innovation, and transformation, including but not limited to:

Economic Reconciliation and Partnerships

  • Indigenous-led economic development
  • âRelationship-based approaches to economic reconciliation
  • Joint ventures and partnership models between Indigenous and local governments
  • Removing barriers to collaboration

What Makes a Strong Proposal?

Strong proposals will:

  • Demonstrate community impact
  • Align with the theme of leadership and change
  • Engage participants through interactive or applied learning

  • Description (150–300 words)
  • Learning objectives
  • Format
  • Speaker details
  • Target audience

  • Call for proposals opens: December 10, 2025
  • Deadline to submit: January 15, 2026
  • Notifications issued: January 31, 2026
